The Community

Part of the work of the LSP via the Community Strategy is to improve issues relating to the community. The main LSP Implementation Groups that look at this area are the Community Safety Partnership and the Health Improvement Group, and associated sub groups beneath them.

The involvement of the Community Empowerment Network is also crucial, local people are involved in decision making via the Community Network and the Tenants and Residents Federation.

Some of the improvements made so far are as follows:

  • made the community safer with five Street Wardens in the west of the district,
  • made homes safe, secure and warm, through a range of security and property improvement measures,
  • improved the health of residents through health improvement schemes, including smoking cessation, healthy eating and the establishment of a Healthy Living Centre.

Annal Lynch, Director of Public Health and Health Development is Chair of the Health Group, and a biography of Anna can be found if you click this link.
